Patrick aims to be more consistent

Danica Patrick has admitted that she knows it will take time before she will be a regular contender for race victories

The Andretti Green driver is yet to win a race in the IndyCar Series, but she was happy to score her second top three finish at Nashville on Sunday.

"Sometimes there's moments where you're just preoccupied with why you didn't win, and you forget about what you did do," said Patrick.

"It's another good result for me. Having two thirds this year so far is an improvement from last year."

Patrick is now in her third year of racing in the American series, and she has said that her current aim is to be more consistent.

"I have to realise that running up front consistently is going to come," she said. "I don't think it's as consistent as I want it to be yet, it's more like top six or seven instead of top three or four.

"As soon as we get these results a few more times and get used to being up here, then we'll definitely be contending for wins a lot more."

Patrick is currently seventh in the IndyCar standings, 167 points behind her teammate Dario Franchitti, who leads the table.
