Wheldon seeks change in fortune

Dan Wheldon has said that his team have made several changes to his car in a bid to improve his performance on road courses this season

The 2005 IndyCar Series champion was disappointed with his last road course outing at Watkins Glen, and he is hoping that he will have a better weekend at Mid-Ohio.

"This year has been a little bit difficult on the road courses," said Wheldon. "We haven't been able to adapt the car to exactly how I like it on the road courses.

"We've made some fundamental changes to the car to try to help me for this particular race."

The Ganassi driver also added that he expects the drivers who are chasing the championship leaders to take a different approach to the next few races as they try to close the gap.

Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon are relatively close at the top of the standings, while Wheldon, Tony Kanaan and Sam Hornish are more than 90 points adrift of the championship leader.

"I think at this point in the season you'll see the three of us will make some decisions that will be considerable different than the others," he said. "I think it will be exciting from that standpoint."
