Franchitti says 'perfection' needed
Dario Franchitti believes that his performances will have to be perfect for the rest of the season if he is to win the IndyCar Series title
The Andretti Green driver has had his championship lead cut from 65 points to 24 by Scott Dixon in the last three races, and he believes that the Ganassi driver has no weaknesses.
"The guys in the No 9 car, and Scott himself, are doing a hell of a job," said Franchitti, who finished second to the 2003 champion at Mid-Ohio on Sunday.
"We need perfection. I'm being critical of myself and my guys, but we need that perfection to win the championship."
Dixon has won the last three races, but Franchitti admitted that he had always expected the title battle to go to the end of the season.
"I know it's going to be a fight until the end of the championship, but I wasn't expecting anything else," he said.
"At this point when you look at the guys fighting it out in front week in, week out, there's no weak spots for anybody.
"We've just got to get on with it and do the job. We're looking for perfection, and we'll just keep pushing the car each week."
