Dixon expecting crucial few weeks

Scott Dixon believes that the next few races on the IndyCar Series schedule will be crucial for Chip Ganassi racing

The championship leader is yet to win a race this year, but his consistency has put him one point ahead of teammate Dan Wheldon after five races.

However, three of the next four races, starting with this weekend's race at Milwaukee, are on short ovals, where the team struggled last year.

"This next little part for us is the hardest stint for our team," said Dixon. "Out of the next four races we have three short ovals with Iowa, Richmond, and Milwaukee. Hopefully we can gain points out of those.

"You definitely need to be consistent through this hard time. If you get yourself in a slump, it can ruin your championship quite quickly."

Although the 2003 champion is pleased that he has been consistent so far this season, he is also frustrated that he has been unable to win a race, while Wheldon has already won twice.

"You want consistency, but at this stage of the season, you want to go out for race wins," he added. "We've had three seconds this season, that's not nearly good enough for me.

"I think some of those we could have turned into wins, and we definitely need to do that. We'll be as aggressive as we need to be."
