Carpenter and Foyt stay with Vision

Vision Racing have confirmed that Ed Carpenter and AJ Foyt IV will be retained for the 2008 IRL IndyCar Series season

The team, which is owned by Indy Racing League founder Tony George, ran three cars last year, with Tomas Scheckter alongside Foyt and Carpenter, but has scaled back to a two-car line-up for the new season.

Vision have made steady progress since joining the series in 2005, and Carpenter hopes that this will be their breakthrough year.

"I wasn't able to capitalise on the team's growth in 2007 like I wanted," he said. "I had some good runs last season, but I expected more.

"It seemed that more often than not we were the victim of bad luck last year and we've got to look to create our own good fortune this year. The potential, both in myself and the team, is there, we just have to make it happen this season."

Foyt took Vision's best result last year when he finished third at Kentucky. Having previously struggled at grandfather AJ Foyt's team, he believes he demonstrated his true capabilities in 2007 and can build on that this season.

"Last season was really good for me in that I was able to prove to myself that I can be successful in these cars," Foyt said. "After a taste of what the team and I can do together, I am excited about getting back out there this season and working together to be even better."

George is also confident that 2008 can be Vision's most successful season yet.

"I am excited to have Ed and A.J. back with the team this year, and I know it is going to be our best year ever," he said.

"We have restructured a bit over the off-season with an eye toward becoming more competitive week in and week out. I have noticed improved communication and focus on the kinds of things that are important to a winning effort."
