FIA GT: Magny-Cours preview

Four-time race winners Julian Bailey and Jamie Campbell Walter, at the wheel of the No.14 Lister Storm, have led the Drivers' classification since the beginning of the season. However, Mike Hezemans is just 4.5 points behind the British duo, and could take the lead at Magny-Cours. In order to maximise his chances, Carsport Holland will be entering two Chrysler Vipers for the race, with Hezemans sharing the No.25 car with 1999 Formula Nippon Champion Tom Coronel, while David Hart will drive another Viper with Euro STC front-runner Peter Kox.

If Hezemans manages to claim his fourth victory of the season, and the Lister duo finish third or lower, the Dutchman will become the 2000 FIA GT Champion.

The battle for the Teams title is just as close, with Paul Belmondo Racing aiming to regain the lead they held between the Hungarian and the Czech Republic rounds.

With second and third places at Brno, Lister now has a two-point lead, meaning that the Belmondo team has decided to field three Chrysler Vipers for Sunday's race.

Paul Belmondo will share one car with Marc Duez, Claude-Yves Gosselin will drive with Anthony Klumpen and the regular line-up of Vincent Vosse and Boris Derichebourg will be in the No.12 car as usual.

Although Larbre Competition has already secured the N-GT team and driver titles, the season-long on-track rivalry between RWS's Luca Riccitelli and Larbre's Christophe Bouchut is sure to continue at Magny Cours. The N-GT's usual grid of Porsche 996GT3-Rs will be strengthened with JMB Giesse's two Ferrari 360 Modenas, one of which will be driven by new SRWC champion Christian Pescatori.
