Wilson feeling bad for Dalziel

Justin Wilson has admitted that he felt sorry for Ryan Dalziel after the rookie crashed while the pair were battling for position at Toronto

Dalziel had led for 16 laps during the middle of the race, but he had dropped back a few places in the latter stages when he came under attack from Wilson.

The RSPORTS driver then got alongside Dalziel on the inside heading into Turn 8, but he ran wide, which forced the Scottish driver into the tyre wall.

"I feel sorry for Ryan, everyone at Pacific Coast Motorsports has done a fantastic job, and they were running well," said Wilson.

However, the former Formula One driver added that he felt Dalziel could have avoided the incident.

"I caught Ryan at the end going into Turn 8, and he braked much later than he had been," he said. "However, I had already committed to the inside.

"I just started sliding towards the wall as he then attempted to drive back around the outside.

"From my point of view, I thought he could have maybe slowed up, let me slide wide and passed me back into the next corner."

Wilson continued to finish third, while Dalziel was angry despite registering his best result of the season in seventh place.

"I think it was a stupid move Justin made and quite disappointing for a veteran," he said. "It felt great to lead at the time but it feels so disappointing now."
