Verstappen tops final practice
Team Holland bolted on a fresh set of rubber late in the final free practice session allowing Jos Verstappen to record the fastest lap
With only three new sets of Cooper tyres available for today's sessions, many of the favoured runners opted to save their new rubber for qualifying later on. This allowed some unfancied names to rise to the head of the times, and for most of the hour Team Pakistan's Adam Khan was quickest.
Verstappen's late effort bumped the green and white car back to second, while third place fell to the ever-improving Team China car of Teng Yi Jiang. Stephen Simpson was fourth for Team South Africa, while Matt Halliday was fifth fastest for Team New Zealand.
Fancied runners Team France, Team Ireland and Team Brazil all opted not to run a fresh set of tyres and were 14th, 10th and 21st respectively. Expect all three to feature more prominently in qualifying.
Team Germany ended up in eighth. Timo Scheider, who was racing in the FIA GT series in Dubai yesterday, did an excellent job despite only arriving in Malaysia a few hours before the start of the session. Robbie Kerr was 15th for Team Great Britain.
