Stoneman pulls clear in final practice
Dean Stoneman found more than eight tenths of a second to move well clear of his rivals in Friday's second Formula 2 practice session at Brands Hatch
The Briton had topped the day's earlier session in which the top four cars were covered by less than one tenth. But this afternoon he improved significantly and finished the half hour seven tenths clear.
Will Bratt was second quickest, with Tom Gladdis another tenth back in third.
Armaan Ebrahim was fourth, ahead of championship leader Jolyon Palmer and Italian Nicola de Marco.
Philipp Eng was a contender at the top of the timesheet early on, but slipped to seventh by the end, with Benjamin Bailly, Sergei Afanasiev and Benjamin Lariche rounding out the top 10 ahead of this afternoon's first qualifying session.
Julian Theobald lost valuable track time on his first F2 weekend when he damaged his suspension in a collision with Mihai Marinescu on his out lap.
The session was red-flagged early on when Plamen Kralev spun into the gravel and Natalia Kowalska went off at Surtees and rejoined.
