Prost confirmed at Team France
A1 Team France have confirmed that Nicolas Prost will be the team's rookie driver for the upcoming A1GP season
The 26-year-old son of four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost impressed the team during the first day of pre-season testing at Silverstone on Tuesday, and it is likely that he will race the car later in the season.
"Nicolas Prost had his first test session in an A1GP car at Silverstone, and thanks to his performance the young French driver is announced as the rookie in the team for the 2007-2008 championship," the team said in a statement.
"He will take part in free practice on Friday in all the rounds, and will probably find himself competing in some races during the season."
Prost, who is currently a frontrunner in the Spanish F3 championship, was thankful to the team for the amount of help they gave him on his first day of testing.
"The A1GP car is the most powerful single-seater I've driven so far, and I immediately felt at home behind the wheel," he said.
"The whole team and Nicolas Lapierre did their best to help me and I'd like to thank them all. My aim is to improve my knowledge of the car and to progress."
Alain Prost, who was present at yesterday's Silverstone test, added: "I have to admit that I'm delighted with Nicolas' performance. It will be a pleasure for me to attend several races this year, and I lend my full support to A1 Team France."
