Power hoping to make up ground soon
Will Power has said that the next few races are crucial for him if he is to get back into the Champ Car title fight
The Australian led the standings earlier in the season, but he has fallen slightly out of contention in recent races, while Robert Doornbos and Sebastien Bourdais have scrapped over the championship lead.
"The next batch of races is extremely important for the championship," said Power. "Especially Elkhart Lake.
"Our goal is to finish every race as competitively as we can and to rack up as many points as we can."
Power believes that Team Australia will be in good shape this weekend, as they were happy with their performance in a recent test at Road America.
"We definitely have an advantage being that we tested there a month ago and we were able to get a good handle on the car," he said.
"We can rock up on par with everyone this year, so I'm looking to finish the job and bring the boys home a good result."
Power is currently 24 points adrift of Bourdais in the standings, with a maximum of 34 available from an individual weekend.
