Peugeot drivers want Audi rematch

Two of Peugeot's drivers from last weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours have expressed their desire to battle Audi later this year at Petit Le Mans

The 10-hour event at Road Atlanta is part of the American Le Mans Series, where two Audi R10 are racing full time this year.

Peugeot have not given any indication of whether they plan to enter the race or not, but the event in October usually attracts a handful of European teams.

Sebastien Bourdais, who brought one of the 908s across the line in second place at Le Mans, believes that competing in one of the biggest races of the year would be the ideal way for the team to improve ahead of next year's Le Mans 24 Hours.

"I'd like to do it," he said. "It's another way for us to be a better prepared team. We can always learn lessons to help us for Le Mans in 2008, and that is our target."

Stephane Sarrazin, who drove the No 8 car alongside Bourdais and Pedro Lamy last weekend, shared his teammate's sentiments, but he does not expect the Peugeot to appear in the ALMS this year.

"I don't think it will happen, but I would love to do it," he said. "I had a very good time racing in America last year with Aston Martin and another race with Audi would be very exciting."
