Grapevine: Stars line up for charity kart race

Several motorsport stars are set to take part in a karting event in the UK in aid of Cancer Research

Timo Glock, Jamie Green, Alain Menu, Christian Klien and Katherine Legge are already confirmed along with many more for the event that will take place at the Rye House circuit on November 25.

The event's organisers plan to use high-performance karts for the event, rather than the slower and cheaper karts that are often used for these types of races.

Along with the race for professional drivers, there will be a race for current junior karting stars, and a race for celebrities, other motorsport personalities and journalists.

One of the organisers for the event, Rick Osborn, said: "We wanted to put this event on to help raise more awareness and funding for Cancer Research UK.

"I have my own personal reasons for choosing this charity but it's also sadly a disease many others can identify with.

"Also from a racing point of view, nobody has ever done a pure racing event like this before in the UK with such a diverse range of stars. It should be a spectacular day."

More information on the event can be found at The Race Against Cancer website.
