Germany on Eastern Creek pole

Nico Hulkenberg gave A1GP points leaders Team Germany another pole position with a record-breaking run at Eastern Creek

Hulkenberg stole the top spot in the final session of qualifying with a stunning lap of 1:17.962 - the quickest an A1GP car has ever lapped the Australian circuit.

Germany's gain was New Zealand's loss. Jonny Reid set the pace in the first two sessions, but in spite of being up against Hulkenberg's best lap at the second split, he was unable to match the ultimate pace and will line up second.

Robbie Kerr did a good job to take third for Team Great Britain. His best lap was second only to Hulkenberg's, but A1GP's unique qualifying system means he'll line up on the second row. He'll be joined there by Team France after another solid effort from Loic Duval.

Sebestien Buemi repeated his practice form to take fifth for Team Switzerland, while the surprise package in qualifying was Team China, which took sixth courtesy of a great effort from Ho-Pin Tung.

Phil Giebler recovered from an off in session one to take a good seventh for Team USA, with Jeroen Bleekemolen (Netherlands), Richard Lyons (Ireland) and Alex Yoong (Malaysia) completing the top 10.
