Germany top final practice

Team Germany will go into A1GP qualifying at Eastern Creek on a high after Nico Hulkenberg topped final free practice for this weekend's event

In spite of a quick trip across the infield grass, the German teenager was again the class of the field. However, his session-topping time of 1:21.080 is well short of the pace that will be required for pole and reflected the fact that most of the leading teams opted not to run new tyres in the hour-long session.

Robbie Kerr showed Team GB should be a factor by setting the second fastest time, just 0.8 seconds behind Hulkenberg. In fact, it was a highly competitive session, with less than a second covering Kerr in second and Ho Ping Tung's Team China car in 18th!

Yesterday's pacesetter Jonny Reid again went well for Team New Zealand, and was third quickest. Loic Duval was up there in fourth for France while Salvador Duran continued his good form with the fifth best time.

For the first time this weekend Team Australia had something to cheer as Karl Reindler set the sixth best time ahead of Alan van der Merwe (South Africa), Sebastien Buemi (Switzerland), Jereon Bleekemolen (Netherlands), while Christian Murchison rounded out the top 10 for Team Singapore to continue his and the team's most competitive A1GP weekend so far.
