Gentilozzi 'Innocent' Over Tagliani
Rocketsports boss Paul Gentilozzi has spoken out about his decision to drop Alex Tagliani from his team this year - and insisted he did not go back on a 'shaken hands' deal he had with the Canadian
Tagliani has switched to the Walker Racing outfit and made it clear earlier this week that he was shocked about losing his drive at Rocketsports, having agreed a three-year deal at the start of last season.
But according to Gentilozzi, the original agreement with Tagliani was dependent on sponsorship funds arriving at the team.
Speaking to Canadian television, Gentilozzi said: "Alex and I knew last October 1st that we basically had to find a commercial partner to fund his drive for the upcoming season.
"We both worked very hard throughout November, December and January to find that support. In January we had three good-sized deals on the table that provided that commercial support to his ride... A ride that both he and I very much wanted. [But] unfortunately those deals fell through."
Rocketsports has been linked with a deal with Timo Glock, who was Jordan's third driver in Formula One last year.
