Forsythe confirms Tracy and Carpentier
Leading CART team Player's Forsythe Racing has announced that Paul Tracy and Patrick Carpentier will drive for the team in 2003, leaving current driver Alex Tagliani to look elsewhere for a seat
Tracy's move to the team had been expected for some time, although he was banned by previous employer Team Kool Green from talking about it. "I've driven for some great teams since I've been in the CART series," he said, "but as a Canadian driver I'm extremely proud to be joining Team Player's, not just for the patriotic angle but also because of the quality of the staff on the team and the presence of a team-mate for whom I have a great deal of respect."
Fellow Canadian Patrick Carpentier, a two time winner in 2002, will stay with Forsythe for a sixth season.
He said: "My decision to continue my association with Player's is an expression of confidence in the team and the constant progress that it is making. There is a really good chemistry between me and my engineers and a great relationship with my mechanics. It felt good to know that they were just as eager to have me back with the team."
Forsythe will switch from Reynard to Lola chassis for 2003. Forsythe was one of only three teams still running the Reynard's by the end of the season.
However, the arrival of Tracy has meant that current driver Alex Tagliani has been ousted from the team for 2003. The team had hoped to run three cars, but attempts to find sponsorship proved unsuccessful.
