Enge could return at next round
Tomas Enge is optimistic that he can return to racing as early as the Salt Lake City American Le Mans Series race on 19 May
The injured Czech driver travelled to this weekend's Houston ALMS as soon as he was given medical clearance to fly, and believes he could be fit enough to drive at the next round.
Enge suffered multiple injuries, including a severely broken elbow, when he crashed while leading the GT2 class in the St.Petersburg ALMS event.
"The elbow is getting better and better every day," said the Petersen/White Lightning Ferrari driver.
"Everything is going positive. There is still pain but every day I am getting better. I am very optimistic about getting back in the car as soon as possible.
"Salt Lake City is a big question mark. The race is exactly six weeks from the surgery.
"The doctors said they want me to heal for six to eight weeks or I will risk hurting it again and then being out all summer. I will meet the doctor again in two weeks time and we will see then if there is any possibility to race in Salt Lake or not.
"I am doing my best, all I can do, to be in the car as soon as possible."
If Enge is not able to race in Utah then he is likely to make his comeback at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
