Brabham takes Texas pole for Acura
David Brabham took Acura's second consecutive pole position in qualifying for the fourth round of the American Le Mans Series in Texas
It was a close battle for pole position however, half a second covering the top five cars on the grid which represented the three major manufacturers.
Just six-thousandths of a second behind Brabham, Stefan Johansson and Duncan Dayton was the Audi R10 TDI of Rinaldo Capello and Allan McNish, the fastest P1 car, with Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas in their Porsche RS Spyder less than five-hundredths further back.
Ryan Briscoe and Sascha Maassen in their Porsche RS Spyder and Marino Franchitti and Bryan Herta in their Acura complete the closely-bunched top five.
With only the two Corvettes entered in GT1, it was just a matter of which one started in front, Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta winning the battle by just under two-tenths over teammates Jan Magnussen and Johnny O'Connell.
In GT2, the Ferrari 430GT of Jaime Melo and Mika Salo continued their strong performances so far this season with the fastest time in their class.
