GP3
GP3 - Valencia: And this is Vainio, Ellinas and the flag. On first glance we were convinced Ellinas was being beaten around the head with it. Now we realise they're bullfighting.
Breaking news
But in the meantime, here's a recap of this morning's practice sessions from around Europe, as Jamie Green, Marc Marquez and Kevin Korjus set the pace in the DTM, MotoGP and GP3 respectively:

In updates from around the motorsport world's promotional activities this week, we'll be bringing you pictures of Aaro Vainio seemingly battering Tio Ellinas with a Spanish flag, Tony Stewart catching a small fish, Craig Lowndes catching a bigger fish, Jason Bright catching a weird fish, and a child racing a motorised bathtub.

DTM - Lausitz: And here's how DTM practice looked in the flesh from the top of the main grandstand at Lausitz. A truly awesome view. AUTOSPORT may well venture back there for the first German F3 race later this morning.
GP3 - Valencia: Word from the drivers' briefing is that any infringement of track limits at the exit of Turn 1 will result in qualifying times being deleted. So expect some "Driver X takes pole" followed by "oh no he doesn't" this afternoon!
Checkered flag
DTM - Lausitz: That's the end of practice with four Audis in the top six and the best BMW a surprising seventh:
1 Green; 2 Paffett; 3 Scheider; 4 Wickens; 5 Tambay; 6 Rockenfeller; 7 Spengler; 8 Ekstrom; 9 Wehrlein; 10 Mortara.
1 Green; 2 Paffett; 3 Scheider; 4 Wickens; 5 Tambay; 6 Rockenfeller; 7 Spengler; 8 Ekstrom; 9 Wehrlein; 10 Mortara.
Stopwatch
DTM - Lausitz: Six minutes to go and Jamie Green leaps to the head of the timesheets with a lap 0.1s quicker than the marker set after 20 minutes by his Abt Audi team-mate Scheider.
Checkered flag
MotoGP - Barcelona: Free practice is over, giving us 10 of the 12 bikes that will compete for pole in Q2 this afternoon:
1 Marquez; 2 Hayden; 3 Pedrosa; 4 Rossi; 5 Crutchlow; 6 Lorenzo; 7 Bradl; 8 Dovizioso; 9 Bautista; 10 Espargaro.
1 Marquez; 2 Hayden; 3 Pedrosa; 4 Rossi; 5 Crutchlow; 6 Lorenzo; 7 Bradl; 8 Dovizioso; 9 Bautista; 10 Espargaro.
Crash
MotoGP - Barcelona: Hiroshi Aoyama has crashed. After sitting in the gravel for a while, he eventually gets up, and seconds later team-mate Hector Barbera pulls up at the side of the track and parks his bike.
Stopwatch
MotoGP - Barcelona: While those at the bottom of the top 10 are scrapping to get into Q2, Marc Marquez has just knocked team-mate Pedrosa off of top spot. A lap later he goes even faster.
MotoGP - Barcelona: As we enter the final 10 minutes of practice the action is stepping up a notch. Lots of riders are improving as everyone battles to earn a Q2 spot for qualifying this afternoon.
MotoGP - Barcelona: Pedrosa (currently quickest) has a moment at Turn 1 when his back wheel steps sideways as he hits the brakes. The Honda rider catches the wobble, but has to take to the asphalt run-off on the outside.
GP3 - Valencia: Not everyone makes it back to the pits under their own steam, however. Eric Lichtenstein stops out on track and needs a tow back. He shunted in the recent Hungaroring test, but Carlin's James Harris tells us it didn't need too much work to get it ready for this weekend.

Mark Winterbottom
V8 Supercars - Hidden Valley: Part two of race one in Darwin was an increasingly miserable experience for Ford Performance Racing.
Its cars had finished one-three-four in the first segment, but in the second, the grimaces in the garage grew ever wider.
FPR was infuriated that arch-rival Triple 8 was allowed to go back onto the grid to top up Jamie Whincup's dry ice for his cool suit after a team mistake, then saw David Reynolds lose the lead to Whincup, Will Davison get taken out in the lap one shunt, Mark Winterbottom punt Reynolds out of second, and Winterbottom get a penalty for the tangle.
The team insisted that in V8s the unwritten rule is that team-mate tangles will be left to the team to sort out in-house and not penalised on-track...
GP3 - Valencia: The flag falls on free practice with Kevin Korjus, who ends the session chilling in the pitlane, fastest ahead of Nick Yelloly, Patric Niederhauser, Carlos Sainz Jr and Lewis Williamson. Points leader Tio Ellinas was seventh fastest.
Checkered flag
GP3 - Valencia - practice results: 1 Korjus; 2 Yelloly; 3 Niederhauser; 4 Sainz; 5 Williamson; 6 Vainio; 7 Ellinas; 8 Kvyat; 9 Regalia; 10 Daly.
GP3 - Valencia: Conor Daly and Daniil Kvyat each get the naughty-boy flag for exceeding track limits at Turn 1.
MotoGP - Barcelona: Lorenzo heads back out on his spare bike with 29 minutes of practice remaining.
GP3 - Valencia: Practice pacesetter Kevin Korjus has just suffered a minor off-track excursion in free practice. Despite Circuit Ricardo Tormo's vast expanse of gravel traps, nobody has investigated them yet. Korjus remains 0.247s quicker than Nick Yelloly with just a few minutes remaining.
Crash
MotoGP - Barcelona: Yonny Hernandez walks away from a shunt, while Lorenzo is back in the pits and frantically trying to get ready to head back out.
DTM - Lausitz: Top 10 at the halfway point of practice: 1 Scheider; 2 Mortara; 3 Ekstrom; 4 Rockenfeller; 5 Tambey; 6 Paffett; 7 Green; 8 Wickens; 9 Albuquerque; 10 Vietoris.
The whole field is covered by 1.7s.

DTM - Lausitz: Roberto Merhi misses Turn 1 and skipped half a lap by running straight round the oval. No harm done.
Previously his Mercedes looked the worst for porpoising down the straights. He's currently 13th.

Stopwatch
MotoGP - Barcelona: The cool morning track temperatures mean Valentino Rossi's best lap from Friday has already been surpassed. Dani Pedrosa is currently fastest on a 1m41.9s
Crash
MotoGP - Barcelona: Jorge Lorenzo has crashed in the early minutes of practice. The Spaniard lost the front end on the way into the downhill Turn 5. Lorenzo had a quick look at the bike in the gravel before giving up and heading for the pits and his spare bike.
Green flag
MotoGP - Barcelona: Free practice is underway in sunny Spain.
GP3 - Valencia: Kevin Korjus has just deposed Nick Yelloly from the top of the timesheets with the majority of the 28-car field back in the pits after the first free practice runs.
GP3 - Valencia: Did you know that Valencia's Turn 12 is named after Manuel 'Champi' Herreros, the last 80cc motorbike world champion? You do now. In the meantime, local hero Carlos Sainz Jr has hit the top of the times.
Breaking news

Carl Edwards
For anyone out on Friday night in Europe, here's a recap of how qualifying unfolded in America's premier series, as Colin Edwards and Marco Andretti took poles for the Michigan NASCAR Sprint Cup and Milwaukee IndyCar races respectively.

GP3 - Valencia: Conor Daly is the early pacesetter, but he's just had a wild trip over the kerbs at Turn 12, the quick right-hander. Tio Ellinas takes over at the top of the times now with 10 minutes of the 45 gone already.
V8 Supercars - Hidden Valley: Over in Australia, race one of the V8s' Darwin weekend is already complete.
It was yet another win for Jamie Whincup, but that was far from the whole story, with controversy aplenty in his wake.

DTM - Lausitz: 10 minutes in and the top six is Scheider; Ekstrom; Wickens; Paffett; Vietoris; Mortara.
Timo Glock has had a spin coming onto the back part of the oval at Turn 5, but has continued without suffering any damage.

GP3 - Valencia: On the subject of tyres, Pirelli's Mario Isola says: "Valencia tests every aspect of a tyre's performance, which is why we have chosen the medium compound - the most versatile of the entire range. The two races should reveal a lot about which drivers are capable of managing their tyres most effectively."
DTM - Lausitz: practice is underway with Timo Scheider the first man to set a competitive lap time. Initial markers are around two seconds off last year's qualifying pace.

GP3 Barcelona
GP3 - Valencia: It's been a quiet start to 2013 for GP3, this is only the series' second outing of the season.
The Valencia round is the only time all year when it runs away from the Formula 1 bill.
Tio Ellinas holds the early advantage after winning the season opener. New team Koiranen took a one-two on its debut weekend in race two, Aaro Vainio leading Kevin Korjus.
Championship standings after two of 16 rounds:
1 Tio Ellinas 39
2 Patric Niederhauser 28
3 Aaro Vainio 25
4 Conor Daly 21
5 Kevin Korjus 18
6 Nick Yelloly 12
25 points for race one win, 15 points for race two win
GP3 - Valencia: All set for free practice at Circuit Ricardo Tormo for GP3's standalone event. Bamboo's Lewis Williamson told AUTOSPORT that the recently-resurfaced track, with expected asphalt temperatures of over 50C, should pose a real test for Pirelli's medium-compound rubber this weekend.
DTM - Lausitz: AUTOSPORT has made the quick blast down the motorway from Dresden to the track on what is another glorious day in old East Germany. Practice is due to start in around five minutes.

Bruno Spengler
DTM - Lausitz: Bruno Spengler's win at Spielberg a fortnight ago moved the reigning champion into the points lead.
Mike Rockenfeller is Audi's lead man in second, while rookie Marco Wittmann's excellent start puts him fourth behind round one winner Augusto Farfus.
Mercedes has not begun well: no wins yet, top man Christian Vietoris 28 points back in the standings and concerns over continued poor qualifying form.
Championship standings after three of 10 rounds:
1 Bruno Spengler 53
2 Mike Rockenfeller 41
3 Augusto Farfus 33
4 Marco Wittmann 32
5 Christian Vietoris 25
6 Dirk Werner 22
25 points for a win
