Piquet Penalised but Keeps Win
Nelson Piquet Jr has been docked ten places on tomorrow's grid for race two as a result of a collision during race one with Alex Premat
Piquet hit the rear of Premat's car on lap 16 after the fourth restart in a wet/dry race, as the pair came into the La Source hairpin corner. Premat's wishbone was broken in the collision, putting him out of the race, while Piquet went on to claim his maiden win.
The race stewards decided that Piquet caused the collision and gave him a ten grid position penalty for tomorrow, but the race one results are unaffected.
A repentant Piquet stated after the decision: "I braked a bit hard - everyone was braking, and we were coming from sixth gear to first gear - I locked up a little and unfortunately I touched him.
"These things happen sometimes - it was wet, and I was on slicks."
Piquet, who was to start eighth as a result of the reverse grid in the second race, will now start in 18th position.
