Glock fastest in Bahrain practice

Timo Glock carried his pre-season testing form into the first practice session of the weekend to top the timesheets at Bahrain on Friday morning

The iSport driver was fastest for the majority of the session, and his margin back to Luca Filippi was a comfortable six tenths of a second.

Alexandre Negrao was third fastest as he begins his third year in the category, while rookie Kazuki Nakajima was only a few hundredths of a second slower in fourth.

The remainder of the top eight was filled by drivers that are expected to contend for this year's championship, but remarkably one whole second covered just the top eight cars.

Lucas di Grassi led the group of title favourites in fifth place, while series rookie Antonio Pizzonia squeezed ahead of the second ART car of Michael Ammermuller for sixth.

Glock's teammate Andreas Zuber was unable to match the speed of the German, and he finished the session eighth.

Nicolas Lapierre recovered from a spin out on track to set the ninth fastest time, while Bruno Senna also made the top 10 ahead of his GP2 debut.

Fellow rookie Andy Soucek was less fortunate, as he missed out on valuable track time due to a technical problem.
