Pizzonia expects tough first round
Antonio Pizzonia believes that the first weekend of the GP2 season in Bahrain could be one of the most difficult for him
The former Formula One driver is one of the championship favourites heading into his first season in GP2, but he is expecting a challenging weekend because he has never driven the circuit before.
"I'm expecting this weekend to be hard," said the Brazilian. "There's only two circuits on the calendar that I haven't raced at, and they are Bahrain and Istanbul."
Pizzonia was one of the regular pace-setters throughout the winter test sessions, and while he believes that the FMS team will be competitive, he does not expect the results of the tests to be repeated throughout the season.
"In testing you never know what people are doing so whatever anyone did in terms of lap time and speed doesn't really matter any more," he said. "It all starts this weekend.
"After all the testing, the team is ready to race now, so hopefully we can do well. It should be a good season."
