Di Grassi takes positives from year
Lucas di Grassi has admitted that despite the disappointment of losing the 2007 GP2 title, he is still quite satisfied with his season
The Brazilian went into the final weekend of the year just two points behind eventual champion Timo Glock, but his title chances had effectively disappeared when he spun out of the first race in changeable conditions.
"I had one win and six podiums this season," said di Grassi. "We are vice champions, and all in all that is not too bad.
"I'm disappointed for myself and the team, but congratulations to Timo who deserves his title."
Di Grassi admitted that the off that resulted in his retirement from Saturday's race was his fault, as he was pushing hard for points.
"At the beginning of the race I was losing too much time on wet tyres and we had to do something," he said. "Therefore we opted to switch to dry tyres.
"I had no choice but to push to catch up and score the points I needed for the championship and unfortunately I made a mistake.
"Conditions were tricky, we had to take some risks, and the gamble did not pay off."
