Glock would consider defending title
Timo Glock has said that he would be prepared to spend another year in GP2 if he cannot find the right opportunity in Formula One next year
The 2007 GP2 champion believes that it will be a few weeks before he knows his future, but he admitted that while his sole focus was on F1 at the moment, returning to defend his title would still be the best alternative option for him.
"I'm not looking left and right, but you have to have something in your back pocket," said the German. "You have to be prepared, and the safe option would be to drive another year with iSport in GP2.
"There's still a possibility to be with BMW Sauber (in F1) as a test driver but I will try to find a race cockpit an in a couple of weeks we will know the result.
"The last few years have shown what GP2 is, and what a strong championship it is. Sure I'm already in F1 as a test driver but I want the next step and I hope this helps a bit."
The 25-year-old added that he had considered continuing his career in America after racing in Champ Car in 2005, but he believes that his gamble to try GP2 gave him the best chance of securing an F1 opportunity.
"A couple of years ago it was just tough," he said. "I thought maybe I would have to start a career in America and forget F1.
"But at the end we found a backer and said 'ok, we have to find a way to go to GP2 or find the right team and just gamble a little bit.'
"In the beginning (with BCN) it seemed like the wrong decision, but when we joined iSport it was the right decision."
