Arden Surprised by Lack of Pace
Arden drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Nicolas Lapierre were both surprised at their car's lack of pace during qualifying for tomorrow's first race in Barcelona
The pair have driven a large number of laps at the circuit in pres-season testing and were expecting the set-up solutions to be easier to find ahead of the session. It wasn't to be.
Kovalainen, winner of the first race in Imola and current Championship leader, was ambivalent about the session, which resulted in eleventh for the Finn. He noted: "Sometimes it goes like that. The car felt fine and the balance is there, I had a clear lap, but the lap time just wasn't there."
Lapierre was unable to repeat his pole winning feat from Imola, finishing the session in eighth. "Like Heikki I think the car is okay," he noted. "The balance is there and it feels okay, so I thought I would be quicker to be honest.
"But I'm eighth, and for sure I can look for points. It should be okay tomorrow."
