FR3.5 testing: Nicholas Latifi ends final day on top at Aragon
Nicholas Latifi topped the final day of post-season Formula Renault 3.5 testing at Aragon on Wednesday
The Canadian, who took his maiden podium in the series last month at Jerez, set his best time just before the lunch break at the Spanish circuit.
Latifi's best time knocked Oliver Rowland back to second place in the morning session, and despite the Briton - a two-time winner in 2014 - improving his time in the final minutes of the day to top the afternoon running, it was not enough to take top spot overall.
Jazeman Jaafar, driving for DAMS on the final day, was knocked back to second in the afternoon session by Rowland's time, giving him third overall.
Latifi's best lap also gave him the fastest time of the three-day test, as he edged out Matthieu Vaxiviere's best effort from day two.
"I've really enjoyed these three days," said Latifi, who was in action for Arden on day three.
"In the end I'm pleased to get the fastest time of the three days. After setting the second best time at Jerez, I'd like to keep it this way."
Rowland felt that he was capable of a much quicker time but he felt he made too many mistakes while his tyres were at their best earlier in the day.
Lotus drivers Vaxiviere and Andrea Pizzitola were the only other cars within half a second of Latifi's benchmark, while regular testing frontrunner Pietro Fantin completed the top six.
McLaren junior Nyck de Vries, one of the few drivers confirmed already for 2015, was 13th fastest for DAMS, and he held the same position on the combined times for all three days of the test, which featured 33 drivers in total.
