Title sinks in for Asmer after win
Marko Asmer has said that his British Formula Three title success only sunk in when he won the second race at Croft on Sunday
The Estonian sealed the title in the first race of the day, but his achievement was overshadowed by the fact that he retired from the race with engine problems while leading.
However, he bounced back to win the second race of the day comfortably, his 10th win of the season from 20 starts.
"I didn't feel like I'd really won the title after race one and I wanted to take it with another victory," said Asmer.
"It's now sunk in. The team has been fantastic this year, no mistakes, nothing, the car has been fantastic."
2007 is Asmer's fourth year of racing in F3, and he has spent three of those years with Hitech.
Team boss David Hayle added: "It's more special winning our first title with Marko because very few drivers become very close to a team.
"You very rarely have a special bond with a driver and with Marko we definitely have a special bond which makes it all the more special."
