Silv 1: Rossiter romps in

James Rossiter drove a vastly mature race on a drying track to take his first British F3 race win at Silverstone today (Sunday). The 20-year-old led the whole distance from pole position, despite this being his first competition outing on the International circuit.

Fellow front-row starter Danilo Dirani spun out at Luffield at the end of the first lap, when the track was still wet. But Rossiter then came under pressure from Will Power in the middle part of the race.

The Briton preserved his wets to perfection, and was eventually left alone by Power as the Australian's tyres drifted away in the latter stages.

Nelson Angelo Piquet started third, dropped to fourth but then pressured Adam Carroll into an off and spent the final laps catching up with the fading Power. By the final lap Piquet was close enough for a real look, but he finally ran out of time.

Carroll recovered to finish fourth, ahead of Danny Watts who also put in a solid drive in the Lola-Dome-Mugen. Clivio Piccione drove a strong race to sixth after starting fifteenth.
