Qualifying 1: Kovalainen on pole
Finn Heikki Kovalainen continued his rich vein of form in qualifying for the 19th round of the British F3 championship at Oulton Park. The Fortec Motorsport driver claimed top slot on the grid with a time of 1m30.385s, some 0.236s clear of scholarship class runner Adam Carroll
Carroll made the most of the cooler conditions in the scholarship class session to claim his best starting position of the season, and can wrap up the class title this weekend.
James Courtney, returning to the championship after missing the last round at Rockingham through injury, will start third in his quest to regain the points lead from Robbie Kerr. His cause will be aided by Kerr's disappointing starting position of 11th.
Carroll's Sweeny Racing team-mate Robert Dahlgren, winner of last season's British Formula Ford Championship, will start fourth ahead of Malboro Masters winner Fabio Carbone and Mark Taylor.
