Preview: Courtney tops Oulton test
James Courtney laid down a marker this morning as the British Formula 3 Championship teams tested at Oulton Park ahead of this weekend's double-header at the Cheshire circuit
The Australian visibly struggled in last weekend's Marlboro Masters on his first race back since his horrific 180mph Jaguar Formula 1 testing shunt, but at Oulton he lapped his Carlin Motorsport Dallara-Mugen Honda quickest by 0.501 seconds.
Robbie Kerr, who took the series lead in Courtney's absence at Rockingham, is in the ballpark after taking fourth fastest in his Alan Docking Racing Dallara-Mugen.
Fresh from his Marlboro Masters success, Fabio Carbone was third for the Renault-powered Fortec Motorsport team, just behind team-mate Heikki Kovalainen.
Robert Dahlgren topped the Scholarship Class for Sweeney Racing, with points leading team-mate Adam Carroll down in fifth.
Other drivers of note include Greek John Antoniadis (a sensational 12th with Duma Racing as he prepares for his first ever outing in a professional car racing series), Michael Keohane (down in 15th for Carlin after a late decision to race in the wake of his father's serious illness), and Dutchman Stefan de Groot (23rd with Menu Motorsport for the driver who normally races in the German series).
