Jarvis praises Japanese championship
Oliver Jarvis believes that the qualifying results for this year's Macau Grand Prix prove the strength of the Japanese Formula Three championship
The British driver just pipped Marko Asmer and Kodai Tsukakoshi to pole position on Friday, and all three have raced in the Japanese series.
Asmer combined his Japanese efforts with his British F3 campaign this year, which took priority during the season as he won the title with Hitech Racing.
"I just want to point out that myself, Marco and Kodai have been racing in the Japanese F3 series which many people think is not very competitive," said Jarvis.
"We have done a good job here today to prove that Japanese F3 is very competitive."
The 2005 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner added that the number of incidents through the session made it difficult to get a quick lap in.
"It was a good session for me, but very tough," he added. "Concentration was fairly easy, it was just frustrating.
"You run a good lap and then you come around the corner and there are yellows, a lot of traffic, but this is the Macau GP and you expect that.
"We went out again and fortunately I was able to keep improving, but every time I improved I came around to find I was P2, but then on the last lap I was able to put a quick lap together and put it on pole."
