Dirani takes Croft pole double

Brazil's Danilo Dirani put in a pair of inch-perfect laps to claim pole position for both British Formula 3 races at Croft tomorrow (Sunday). The Carlin driver has now earned poles for half of this season's races, but tomorrow will be his first chance to actually use one following the cancellation of the second race at Silverstone.

"If we can get into the first corner first, then I am pretty confident for tomorrow. The car was perfect today. The balance changed a bit in the second session when it was warmer and there was more rubber in the track."

Dirani is in a good position to make a run on the championship lead tomorrow, because current leader Nelsinho Piquet had a pretty poor day today and has only earned himself eighth and twelfth for the races. The Brazilian's team has always struggled to find a good setup for Croft, and young Piquet was also unlucky in traffic on a day when the critical tyre performance window was only a lap or two wide.

The other consistent performer was Silverstone winner James Rossiter, who bagged a pair of third places - though he felt that traffic cost him a pole in the second session. He'll start behind Adam Carroll in the first race (despite a scary spin at Sunny In for the Northern Irishman), and Venezuelan Ernesto Viso in the second.
