Race 1: Premat strolls away
Alexandre Premat scored his first Formula 3 Euroseries win of the year with an emphatic victory in race one at Estoril
The ASM driver led every lap after making an excellent getaway. His cause was helped massively by fellow front row starter Eric Salignon stalling at the start. The sister ASM car was hit from the back by former championship leader Nico Rosberg causing momentary chaos, which handed Premat a comfortable advantage.
Jamie Green was forced to start back in the pack following a qualifying infringement, but stormed through the field to take second. He closed in on his team-mate at the head of the field, but Premat was never under real pressure.
Nicolas Lapierre produced an even more sensational performance to charge up third from outside the top 10, diving past car after car at the first turn. Brit Tom Kimber-Smith scored his first Euroseries points after a solid drive to seventh, but Lewis Hamilton had a race to forget, retiring in the early stages.
