Di Resta wins Ultimate Masters

Paul di Resta became the second British driver in as many years to win the Ultimate Masters today

The Scot took a lights-to-flag victory for the ASM team in the prestigious invitation race - which makes it three Masters wins in a row for the French squad.

Di Resta, who leads the F3 Euroseries points standings, profited from a poor start by the pole-sitter and local hero Giedo van der Garde.

The Dutchman's getaway was so bad that he dropped to third behind Sebastien Buemi, but he soon fought his way past the Swiss driver.

Van der Garde then spend the rest of the race on di Resta's tail, putting him under intense pressure at times.

But the 2004 McLaren Autosport Award winner stood up to it well and held off his team-mate to the line.

Buemi (Mucke Motorsport) remained in a solid third throughout, ahead of Kohei Hirate (Manor Motorsport) and then a hard tussle between Romain Grosjean (Signature) and Sebastien Vettel (ASM).

But Vettel could not find a way around Grosjean and spent the whole race looking at his gearbox.

Leading British championship representatives Bruno Senna (Double R) and Oliver Jarvis (Carlin Motorsport) were next along, their battle also having ended in stalemate.

Full results will be added shortly...
