Di Resta: it's not over yet
Paul di Resta doesn't believe that the F3 Euroseries title battle has been settled despite rival Sebastian Vettel saying otherwise
The Scot heads to the season finale at Hockenheim with a 15-point lead over teammate Vettel, with only 17 points still available.
After coming away from Le Mans without any points, Vettel declared that his title hopes were gone, but di Resta won't be taking it easy at Hockenheim.
"We still have a job to do because this isn't over," he told autosport.com. "I want to end the season on a high, but we have to get the points in the bag.
"Everyone else will want to end the season well, and they'll have nothing to lose, so it will be hard for us."
The ASM driver could become the third British driver in a row to win the title, following in the footsteps of Jamie Green and Lewis Hamilton, who also won it with the French squad.
Heading into the Le Mans round he was just four points ahead of Vettel, and was surprised at how the situation changed.
"I definitely didn't expect to come away from Le Mans with a lead as big as that," he said. "I was cautious at times last weekend, but that's how you have to be in this situation."
Di Resta also expects Vettel to come out fighting despite his comments.
"Sebastian is going to do all he can to still win the championship because he's a good driver," he said. "It's been good between us all year, and we have a lot of respect for each other"
While the German has made waves in the Formula one paddock in recent months, di Resta is happy enough with his own efforts this year.
"The good thing about this year is that we are team mates so it makes it easier to judge us," he said. "We've had some really close battles, but it has been fair and we've both had a good year."
Di Resta will hope to wrap up the title in the first race of the weekend at Hockenheim, which takes place on October 28.
