Vettel: title hopes gone
Sebastian Vettel has said that his F3 Euro Series title chances are effectively gone after a disastrous weekend at Le Mans
The German went into the weekend only four points behind championship leader Paul di Resta, but after an off in both races he came away from France with two ninth-place finishes and no points.
Di Resta won the opening race of the weekend, and then scored another valuable point in race two thanks to Vettel's off.
"My title chances are more or less gone now," said Vettel, who spun while running third in race one, and took a trip through the gravel in race two after passing his championship rival.
However, the Red Bull-supported driver added that he felt he had to attack to have any chance of catching his teammate in the standings.
"I did my utmost to win as many points as possible this weekend and I had to take a huge risk," he said. "Unfortunately, I ended up going through the gravel."
Vettel is 15 points behind the Scot with 17 available from the season finale at Hockenheim on October 29.
