A-1 Ring 2: Briscoe does the double

The margin of victory for Ryan Briscoe wasn't quite so big in race 2 at the A1-Ring, but you got the feeling that it easily could have been. The Opel-powered driver was once again unthreatened as he stretched his Euroseries F3 points lead, and just as in race 1, led home Alexandre Prémat in a safe second place

A-1 Ring 2: Briscoe does the double

The last podium spot was taken by Nico Rosberg, who was second early on but lost momentum - and second place - when he ran wide onto the very generous asphalt run-off area at Turn 1 shortly after a first-lap safety car period.

The race didn't get underway properly until the car of Andreas Zuber was cleared from the Gosser Kurve gravel trap. The local lad got out wide in the first-lap brawl, slid off the track, dug in and was launched into several barrel-rolls. He was fortunate to climb from the inverted Dallara unaided. .

Fourth place was a mean battle between Olivier Pla, Christian Klien and Markus Winkelhock. Like in Saturday's race, Klien had been forced to climb through the field, but despite his best efforts could not get past Pla on the last lap.

With title rivals Klien and Pla scoring poorly this weekend, it is now entirely possible that Briscoe could take the championship with a strong showing next time out at Zandvoort in Holland.
