Carroll turns to Europe
Adam Carroll has made a surprise switch to the Formula 3 Euroseries at the A1-Ring this weekend, passing up the chance to complete the British F3 season with Alan Docking Racing.
His Austrian outing will be his second consecutive weekend with a new team. Previously a British F3 regular with Menu Motorsport, Carroll raced for ADR in last week's Spa round of the British series. Now, thanks to his connection with Opel DTM racer Alain Menu, who co-founded Menu Motorsport, the Northern Ireland driver is joining the Euro F3 ranks with the Opel-powered KMS team.
The move is something of a gamble for Carroll: "I am not sure where this deal is going," he said."I believe I am on trial here in Austria, but I really hope I'll be able to complete the year with KMS. I know Zandvoort and Magny-Cours [two of the three remaining circuits] quite well and think I can do a good job.
"I could have continued with Alan Docking in British F3," he added. "But then this deal came up."
Carroll is replacing Maro Engel of Monaco this weekend at the KMS team. He qualified an impressive ninth for the first race, coming home sixth. For the second race tomorrow (Sunday) he will start 20th.
