Wilson Aiming to Impress Jaguar in Japan

Briton Justin Wilson says he is looking for a points finish at the season-ending Japanese Grand Prix to have a better chance to keep his seat with Jaguar next year.

Briton Justin Wilson says he is looking for a points finish at the season-ending Japanese Grand Prix to have a better chance to keep his seat with Jaguar next year.

Wilson is still driving to impress after securing just one point for Jaguar in four Grands Prix since switching from back-of-the-grid Minardi in July. With a contract for next season still to be signed with the Milton Keynes-based team, Wilson insists he must build on his eighth place finish at the Indianapolis Grand Prix two weeks ago.

"My eighth (place) finish in Indianapolis was a great boost for me and the team, and I travelled direct to Japan in a positive mood," Wilson, who will make his Suzuka debut at the weekend, told Jaguar's official website.

"As this is the last race for me with the team before a decision is taken for the driver line-up in 2004 I will of course be pushing every step of the way. I will be doing my utmost to achieve another finish, and you never know, maybe even a point. I have never been to Suzuka so again this will be a challenging weekend.

"I will be looking to place myself as high as possible in qualifying but as always, race strategy is so important and this is a key focus for us."
