Webber predicts Hungary upset

Jaguar's Mark Webber believes the Hungarian Grand Prix later this month will prove to be the toughest race yet for Ferrari's Michael Schumacher

Schumacher has won 11 of the 12 races contested so far this year with many now predicting that the German could win the remaining six. But Webber, who recently confirmed he will be driving for Williams next year, believes the German's winning streak could be brought to an end in Budapest.

"Ferrari are in better shape than last year so I still predict they're going to be very strong, but it's going to be a very good race," Webber told the BBC. "He's going to have to work for it, as he has done for most of the year, but it's going to be down to the tyres again. It is believed that the track surface at Budapest reduces the advantage held by Ferrari's Bridgestone tyres over the Michelins used by all their major rivals.

"Michael got lapped there last year by Fernando (Alonso), who had an amazing race. Renault's car was very well suited to that particular circuit and Ferrari had a bit of an off-day, which doesn't happen that often. Ferrari were exposed and they got punished very heavily.

Webber finished the last race at Hockenheim in sixth place, a result that the Australian admitted had surprised him, but one that he enjoyed nonetheless.

"In Hockenheim it was a very enjoyable race, it was good to be up there racing with some very good teams," he said.

Webber now hopes that the team's recent run of reliability will continue for the remainder of the season.

"Jaguar have done a very good job with the car this year, particularly in this middle part of the year with both cars finishing," he said. "It would have been nice to have had more reliability at the beginning of the year but we hope we can continue this run into the last part of the European season."
