Grapevine: Scheckter to Drive Ferrari 312T4 Again

Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter will once again drive his title-winning 1979 Ferrari 312T4 at a charity event, the Minardi team said today in a statement.

Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter will once again drive his title-winning 1979 Ferrari 312T4 at a charity event, the Minardi team said today in a statement.

The South African confirmed that he will attend the Altech South African F1x2 Charity Grand Prix, held this weekend at Kyalami International Raceway, near Johannesburg.

Scheckter is the latest driver to add his name to the growing list of Formula One stars, past and present, who have agreed to appear at the Minardi-run event, which will benefit the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and Unite Against Hunger charities.

The list of participants include McLaren's third driver Alex Wurz; former Jaguar driver Johnny Herbert; Williams test driver Marc Gene; former Minardi driver Nicolas Kiesa; current Minardi drivers Gianmaria Bruni and Bas Leinders; as well as South African F3000 racer, Alan van der Merwe.

The weekend will come to an end on Monday morning, when eight two-seater Minardi F1 cars will race against each other for a total of 10 laps.
