Montoya positive for Hungary

Juan Pablo Montoya believes Williams will be back on the pace at the next race in Hungary after a disappointing race at Hockenheim last month

The Colombian qualified on the front row of the grid for the German Grand Prix, but a slow get-away dropped him down the order. He was unable to recover and had to settle for fifth spot. Team-mate Antonio Pizzonia was driving in his first race for the Grove-based team and finished seventh.

Montoya could not hide his disappointment, but believes the team will fare better in Hungary on August 15.

"If you start a race from the front row of the grid you expect to finish on the podium," he told the team website. "Even so, it was evident that we have been making progress. We are becoming more competitive, but we still have a problem with tyre wear. The improvements that we'll have in place for Hungary will help us a lot. With more downforce, we'll be in a better position to fight for the lead."

Montoya's team-mate for the Hungarian Grand Prix has yet to be confirmed. The injured Ralf Schumacher claimed at Hockenheim that he could be back in the seat for the event but it is thought the team will opt to run Pizzonia for a second time.
