Webber Looking Forward to Strong Qualifying

Australian Mark Webber is looking forward to another strong performance in tomorrow's qualifying after a promising showing in Friday's practice for the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Minardi driver set the 18th quickest time today, outpacing his teammate Alex Yoong by more than a second in their first appearance at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. Webber was content with the work carried out by his team, and was looking forward to a good qualifying session.

"We made good progress today, although I didn't get the best lap when we ran new tyres this afternoon," said the Australian. "The car is generally running well, and the guys did a good job between sessions sorting a couple of small problems. I like the track and am looking forward to tomorrow."

Malaysian Yoong was the busiest man on track today, completing a total of 55 laps. However, despite the hard work, the rookie was only capable of setting the slowest time of the day.

"The car ran reliably and we put in a lot of laps, which is good," he said. "Now we have to try and decide what tyres to use tomorrow, because the set we thought was going to be quicker turned out not to be. All in all, though, it was a productive day."
