Villeneuve hits out at technical boss
Jacques Villeneuve has accused the technical boss of British American Racing for 'letting down' the team
The 28-year-old Canadian said that he has barely spoken to Adrian Reynard this season, and criticised him for not spending enough time on his job.
Villeneuve believes that Reynard's absence has adversely affected the team's performance. He described Reynard's conduct as 'a let down'.
The former world champion's remarks have heightened speculation that BAR is trying to detach Reynard from his job.
Reynard's eponymous company is a shareholder and founding partner of BAR.
'We've hardly ever seen him,' said Villeneuve. 'That's probably the department of the team that's been left behind a little bit.
'Adrian's role in the team is a little bit like Patrick Head's role [at Williams, Villeneuve's former team]. Patrick is hands-on and follows what's going on. Adrian's got a lot of experience and his experience would have been useful.'
'We've seen him for two days of testing this year - and that's it.
'There is definitely a little bit of frustration on that issue. You'd want the chance to put someone in there that will do the job.'
Team boss Craig Pollock said, 'We've always been aware that Adrian would be a part-time player for BAR.
'We have made it very clear at our recent board meetings that we fully believe the top management of the company needs to give 100 per cent.
'Adrian has many companies and interests and we feel he should prioritise them.'
