Dutchman Jos Verstappen was happy to keep his car on track after a difficult practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix on Friday, in which the Arrows driver was able to set the 17th fastest time of the day.
Verstappen was one of the few drivers who were able to escape problems at the fast and slippery Spa circuit on Friday, and though his team were unable to complete their usual back-to-back run with dry weather tyres due to the heavy rain that hampered their progress in the second session, he was pleased with his day's work.
"We spent the morning adjusting the set-up of the car and finished up reasonably happy with the balance in the dry," said Verstappen. "The rain came just as we began our tyre programme so that made it a little difficult for us.
"While the track was wet we took the opportunity to try out the different wet tyres. All in all we stayed on the black stuff so I don't have any complaints."
Brazilian Enrique Bernoldi was not completely happy with his car's handling in the morning session, and as the rain began to fall he could not improve in the afternoon, having to settle with 20th position.
"I wasn't happy at all with the chassis balance first thing this morning but we did make some big improvements just before the rain began," said Bernoldi.
"Unfortunately this stopped me from trying out the new set-up on new tyres. The balance we achieved in the wet was okay though so I'm quite happy but we have a lot to do before qualifying."
