Toyota Hope to Benefit from Revised Aero Package

The Toyota Formula One team are hoping a revised aerodynamic package will help them move forward at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

The Toyota Formula One team are hoping a revised aerodynamic package will help them move forward at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

"We have new aerodynamic parts for Montreal, which we hope will be a step forward," said team boss Over Andersson. "We had a difficult test session in Silverstone last week due to unsettled weather, but we were able to test some new rear and front wing assemblies for Canada."

The Japanese squad enjoyed an impressive qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix two weeks ago, but failed to shine in the race after both Allan McNish and Mika Salo retired. In Canada, Andersson is hoping that his drivers cross the finish line in order to have a shot at the points.

"We qualified well in Monaco, but we failed to get either car to the finish," he added. "We must try to put that right this weekend."

Finn Salo, who has scored the Toyota team's two points this season, is also confident the aero improvements will help his squad and is aiming to repeat his Monaco performance by qualifying again in the top ten at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit.

"Montreal is a great city for a race," said Salo. "The track should suit the TF102 because we have a good engine and the car is stable under braking, both of which are important here. I ran some new aerodynamic parts at Silverstone last week, which improved the balance of the car, so I hope that we can aim for the top ten in qualifying."
