Toyota Continue Development on TF105B

Toyota are still developing their TF105B car, even though it looks unlikely to race this season

The car was supposed to have made its debut at the Italian Grand Prix, but those plans were scuppered when suspension developments proved troublesome rather than a step-forward in pre-event testing.

And although Jarno Trulli said last week that he believed the problems were too severe for the car to be able to race this year, Toyota have not completely given up on it.

Olivier Panis is testing modifications to the car at Silverstone this week, and even though there is only a remote chance of the car being brought in for the final two Grands Prix of the season in Japan and China, the team believe there will be benefits for 2006 even if it does not race this year.

Toyota's chief engineer Dieter Gass said: "We will test the car at Silverstone and if all the modifications do work, then we plan to race it.

"Brazil might be tight since it is our policy to have identical material for both drivers. So if all goes to plan, we shall have the B model for the Asian races at Suzuka and Shanghai.

"And even if we do not manage to have the car race ready, the work is not in vain since there are a lot of solutions involved for the 2006 car."
