Todt Confident Ferrari will Adapt to New Rules

Ferrari's Jean Todt is confident the Italian squad will have enough time to work on their 2005 car despite the delay in the introduction of new rules for next season.

The Formula One teams had until last Monday to come up with alternative proposals to present to the FIA, which intends to impose radical measures aimed at reducing performance.

The smaller teams have called for the new regulations to be urgently agreed because they fear falling even further behind due to their lack of resources compared to the better funded squads.

Todt said the new rules will be implemented next month, but he was optimistic Ferrari will have no problems adapting to them.

"We agree with what's coming out of the Technical Working Group and the federation (FIA), which the World Council will have to implement in mid-October," Todt was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.

"There is always conflict between the time remaining to the start of the season and the best way to exploit the regulations, but we have produced a very good basis which will enable us to wait for the right time to introduce the new car."
