Sergio Perez expects to secure 2015 Force India Formula 1 deal soon

The Mexican joined the Silverstone-based F1 team this season after one year with McLaren, and he sits 11th in the drivers' standings with two races remaining.

While Perez hinted to reporters at Interlagos on Thursday that while an extension to his Force India deal was not guaranteed, he is optimistic that the matter can be resolved before the Abu Dhabi season finale.

"Things are moving on so I really hope by next week we can finalise everything," he said.

"Nothing is confirmed yet, but hopefully we can be in a position to announce my plans soon with the team or someone else.

"[Discussions are] ramping up as it's the end of the year and I want to finalise this, and I want to know if I'm staying not by the next race."

Perez added that talks with Force India have been held up by changes that he wants made to his contract, but he would not elaborate on the details.

"It's not really a surprise that it's taken this long - it's a long process and negotiations have gone slowly," he said.

"I really hope we can sort things out by the next race.

"The [contract] changes that I'm talking about are quite unique and quite logical so it's not changing too much.

"It's just some common sense agreements and that it, and that's why I'm saying nothing."

Force India team bosses Vijay Mallya and Bob Fernley recently met with Perez's representatives in Mexico, and the 24-year-old says he wants to build on what he has achieved with the team this year.

"I'm fully committed to the team," he added. "I know its prospects and everything we can do for a strong year.

"We can improve what we have done this year and use the first season to establish myself within the team for the second year.

"That is my target. I cannot give you too many details - all I'm asking for is a couple of changes and I hope I can get them."

Force India has already confirmed that Perez's team-mate Nico Hulkenberg will stay with the team next season.
